DSE turnover hits five year low


Day’s turnover at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) dipped to Tk 1.04 billion, the lowest in last five years due to liquidity crises in the money market.

On January 8, 2008, the DSE registered Tk 810 million, where on December 5, 2010 the premier bourse recorded it highest ever turnover of Tk 32.49 billion.

The benchmark general index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed flat today gaining 2 points to close at 4113 points.
 
Of the total issues traded 134 advanced, 88 declined and 44 remained unchanged.
Among the major sectors, Pharmaceuticals gained by 0.32 percent and Banks 0.04 percent. Power lost 0.28 percent followed by NBFIs 0.24 percent and Telecommunications 0.06 percent.
 
Total turnover value at the DSE remained low and went down by another 12.6 percent from yesterday’s turnover value. At the end of the trading session, the total turnover value stood at Tk 1 billion.
 
United Airways Ltd, which shed 0.5 percent, was the most traded stock of the day with a total turnover of Tk 80.0 million.
