Stocks return to the black

The benchmark general index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) registered a 46 points gain on Wednesday after short break on Tuesday.
 
The benchmark general index, DGEN of Dhaka Stock Exchange gained 46 points or 1.12 percent to end at 4,181 points.
 
The All share Price Index, DSI soared 40 points or 1.13 percent to close at 3,539 points.
 
The DSE-20 index including blue chips shares advanced 29 points or 0.83 percent to finish at points 3,460 points.
 
Of the issues traded, 201 advanced, 51 declined and only 18 remained unchanged.

 
All the major sectors except Telecommunications ended in green. Power gained by 2.42 percent followed by non-banking financial institutions 1.28 percent, Banks 1.03 percent and Pharmaceuticals 0.76 percent.
 
Day’s turnover value increased and stood at Tk 2.5 billion, going up by 21.2 percent from the previous trading session.
 
Beximco, which gained by 9.4 percent was the most traded stock of the day with a total turnover of Tk 229.6 million.
 
Modern Dyeing was the highest gainer of the session while Samorita Hospital was the worst loser.
