DSE index gains amid Hartal

Dhaka stocks gained on Tuesday snapping a three days fall amid countrywide dawn to dusk hartal called by the main opposition BNP and its key allies.
 
There was low presence of investors at the DSE trading floor due to shut down. But investors made their trading orders through online and telephone call. 
The DGEN, the bench-mark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) advanced 40 points or 0.99 percent to close at 4,049 points.
 
 The All Share Price Index, DSI also gained by 34 points or 0.99 percent to close at 3,424 while the DSE-20 index including blue chips shares gained by 41 points or 1.23 percent to close at 3,374 points.
 
Of the total issues traded at DSE floor 218 advanced, 45 declined and five remained unchanged.
 
During buoyant trading all the major sectors ended in green. Banks gained by 2.37 percent followed by NBFIs 0.65 percent, Power 0.64 percent and Pharmaceuticals 0.47 percent. While telecommunications remained flat.
 
Single day turnover value stood at Tk 1.6 billion, going down by 23.9 percent from the previous trading session.
 
United Airways, up by 4.5 percent was the most traded share of the day with a total turnover value Tk 98.0 million.
 
Mutual Funds dominated the day’s upward rally gaining 5.56 percent, and also dominated the top ten gainers chart as all issues came from the mutual fund sector.
 
First Prime Finance Mutual Fund was the highest gainer of the session while Sonali Aansh was the worst loser.
